A cast brass heavy flag pole topper. This finial is shaped in the form of an eagle standing and looking side way with his wings spread.
The eagle is standing on top of a hemisphere. The bottom of the hemisphere has a hollow shaft in the center with threading which allows the piece to be screwed to a screw on top of a flagpole, a bedpost, or a similar column and act as a decorative finial.
The casting is well done and shows many details such as the feathers, the eagle's eyes, talons.
When I looked at this piece I can imagine This eagle, with its wings cast wide in a majestic flying pose, served as a resilient finial that once held its gaze steady against the prevailing storms. The deep patina etched into its front tells the story of a guardian that never flinched.
Anyways, The piece is rather substantial weighing slightly over 2 pounds. This is a very interesting vintage finial or topper worthy of a spot on top of mantel , Americana art collection, or even man cave.. Please caref
